First Entry in a while

Yes, I'm posting. I really want to start writing again and this is as good a way as any to oil the ole squeaky hinges. A lot has happened since the last update, way too much to try and write about it all here. I'll just start with recent events I suppose and go from there.

Amanda and I have bought a house. I suppose that would have to be the biggest thing that has happened lately. We found the one we wanted pretty quickly, it only took us about two weeks to decide on one. I think our decision making was spurred on a bit however by our eagerness to be home owners and to get out of apartment living. As much as I love having strangers come look through my apartment on a quarterly basis for 'inspections' I think it's time to move on.

The home we picked out is nice, but it needs a little work. The previous owner was an elderly woman who was selling the house to move into a very high end retirement home. She was the original owner and lived there for about 10 years before we bought it from her. The walls are pretty banged up and the colors are not really suitable to us, on top of that there is that stereotypical 'old lady smell' that permeates the place. We decided to repaint every room in the house, as well as all the trim. This is no small task, as we have to be moved in by Halloween since we turned in our notice at our current apartment. Luckily we have a pretty deep resource pool. Our family has really pitched in big time and I don't think we'll have any trouble reaching our deadline. As of now we have painted all of the trim and two of the rooms are done except for a little touch up work where the paint got a little thin in places on the walls. I'm hoping we'll be finished by this Friday and that we will be moving in Saturday.

The house is about 1500 square feet, has three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It has a two-car garage with two garage doors on it, a large tiled-floor porch, and one of the largest back yards that we've seen in our price range. The yard even has a utility shed in it. I'll try and put up some photos soon, but as you probably guessed, I'm pretty busy. I took a lot of photos before we closed on the house, so I'm going to attempt to do some before and after shots so you can see the result of the work we've been doing.

Aside from the house, work has exploded lately. We lost yet another manager, although this one was due to personal problems, and have been assigned a new one. The new boss really is working out well though. She is young, which surprised me, but she has already more than proved herself. She has been here less than three weeks and already it feels like a new job here. Everyone is busy, we're billing, and for the first time in about a year it feels like we have a direction. I really like it here, so I'm hoping and praying that we'll take off. I guess only time will answer that one.

first of all did you get a certified home inspector in there to let you know in detail everything that is wrong with the house and what it might cost estimate to fix..that way you know that what you are paying for the house is not a screwy deal...make sure you figure in your home owners insurance in with your monthly mortgage payment..makes things a bit easier
